What a shitty day! What a shitty Friday! In thursday I wanted to go to a LOL and Manos de Topo concert in Sabadell, a city next to BCN, but first I lost the company (my friend didnt wanted to go because we were no sure on how to come back to BCN after the metro and trains are closed), then I lost my spirit because I had to finish some stuff for school and, besides, LOL would be playing in BCN the next day, so I stayed until 2am with the school shit. Then, this morning I had to go to work, to do… nothing! They asked me to be there to support a new project that was released, and needed somebody that could fix any problem with the network… but nothing happened, what a shitty day!.
I came home and I also did some school shit waiting the time to go to the concert. Then again, my friend found something to dont go to the concert with me (actually it was some sort of good excuse this time), what a shitty day!.
So I went alone to the concert, I got a little early to buy my ticket and to check the “sorroundings” for a good bar to hit after the show. When I arrived to the theater there was a sign in the ticket office “Entradas exhauridas”, basically SOLD OUT! What a shitty day!
I talked to the guy in the office and told me that basically al the tickets sold during the week and many of them were reserved for press, so I was basically screwed. He told me, anyway, not to leave because there had been some guys coming with “spare” tickets to sell. So I stayed there and waited. What a shitty day!
It was going to be difficult to spot who had spare tickets, so I asked for a postcard and I wrote in the back: “Tens 1 entrada? soc fan!”, basically “Do you have a ticket? I’m a fan”. I decided also to sit next to the entrance to have the whole look of a homeless (hehe). Some first laugh at my sign, then they opened the doors and people started to get in to take their seats. Then a coulple of guys stared at my sign and smile between them.
-Whats with your sign?.
Well, I never guessed that they were going to be sold out, so I am here waiting for some luck.
-OK, stand up, you’re going in with us!
First I thought they had spare tickets, but then we entered by a side entrance.
-You are part of the technical staff now” one of them, who was wearing a cap, told me
-Are you all technical staff?
-Well, … eh, yeah! we are all technical staff!
We went down some stairs and at the end of the corridor we got to the men’s room, which was enabled as dressing room. That was when I noticed that they were too many for being all staff. And also, staff does not have a dressing room on the backstage! And also staff does not play the guitar and make some changes on the set list, and does not look like the bass player and…. I was backstage with the band!!!! I had the chance several times to be backstage when I had the radio show, but this was the first time I was there as a fan!
The guy I was taliking to, took the cap out and I realized it was the singer! then I recoginzed them all (I only saw them once live but…), it was, Love of Lesbian, drinking J&B and making some final rehearsal just next to me.
I talked a little with them about whatever. Where was I from, Chiapas, which mexican rock bands they knew, when they were going to hit mexico, etc etc.
Finally I had to leave to take my sit to watch the concert. Show was great, a semi-acoustic one where they even included a version of “Lucha de Gigantes from Nacha Pop.
At the end of the concert I went back with them, said thanks, talked a little more and I got my sign autographed by them.
I went from having no entrance ticket to be backstage with the band and listen to the concert for free!! WHAT A GREAT DAY!
