Kings of Convenience Stores
Once again the awesome Palau de la Música, once again my melomaniac friends and a wonderful concert to come. I arrived a little late as always and we found our way to our (relatively) good and (extremely) unconfortable seats. The comments before the concert began: “I would rather The Whitest Boy Alive to come instead of KoC”. That opinion was about to change.
It was a great concert: Extremely sweet and melancholic melodies, exquisite guitar arrangements, passionate and nervous (yet northern european) performers. A confused spanish audience that, used to show their enthusiasm with cheerful clapping and screaming, didn´t know exactly how to fit that passion into the whispering mood of Erlend and Co.
I was really touched by every second song, I think the fact that I was not a fan and didn´t know must of the songs, helped me to appreciate the concert in a different way. Despite the Pet Shop Boys cover (you are always in mi miiiiiind), Oye’s spanish words (Oscuro!) and a short visit to Life is Life!, the peak moment of the concert for me was all the girls at the Palau (there were lots of them…
) singing the refrain of Know how (originally sung by Feist):
“What is there to know?
All this is what it is
You and me alone
Sheer simplicity…”
Just beautiful, almost a capella with the hundreds of girls @ the Palau… the magic of the place… brilliant…
If you haven’t check the Kings of Convenience, please do… a small amount of melancholic tunes and sweet melodies is needed in every music player…
